The book contains histories of the County West communities of Bonfield, Buckingham, Limestone, Irwin, Essex, Union Hill, Reddick, Cabery, Herscher, Goodrich, Lehigh and the surrounding areas.

Tiger Ball Bonanza (i.e. BINGO)
A new monthly activity known as "Tiger Ball Bonanza" will be at the Legion Community Center in Herscher. Patterned after the game commonly known as Bingo, Tiger Ball Bonanza will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at the Legion. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the games begin at 7:00. Payout's totaling at least $1,000 will be featured each night, and many games and price ranges will be offered. Tiger Ball Bonanza is being sponsored by the Herscher Chamber of Commerce. |

Legion Euchre Party
The Legion Community Center in Herscher will host a progressive euchre party on Thursday, August 23, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission is a $5 donation. The evening also includes refreshments and raffles. Euchre parties are held on the fourth Thursday of every month. |

The annual Ashkum Homecoming- affectionately known as the "Ashkum World's Fair" - takes place the weekend of Aug. 24-26 at the village park in Ashkum. The event features food, games and entertainment. |

Sportsman Club BBQ
The Herscher Sportsman Club will host a BBQ chicken dinner on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on the club grounds in Buckingham. Half-chicken dinners will be sold for $7. Children's hotdog meals will also be available. Games, music and dancing will follow. Non-members who purchase dinner tickets will recieve free admission to the swimming pool that day. |

The annual Herscher Open golf outing will be hosted by the State Bank of Herscher on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Oak Springs Golf Course. The shotgun start begins at 12:00 noon. The outing features 18 holes of golf followed by a pork chop dinner. The event is limited to the first 120 golfers. 125th Herscher Labor Day Celebration
Access the full listing of this grand annual event by visiting the 125th Herscher Labor Day Celebration. The day will begin with a parade at 10:30. Food, entertainment, rides and other activities are planned for throughout the day at Village Park.
Started in October 1919 as a Homecoming to welcome back those who had served in World War I. It became an annual event, and was fixed on Labor Day in 1935. It still is known and has always resulted as a "Homecoming" for past alumni and past residents. |
