Gayle Magnuson, a certified appraiser from Kankakee, will have a special tent at the festivities to let people know if their items are treasures or trash.

The appraisals will be done from 1 to 3 p.m. on Labor Day, September 3rd, in front of the Village Hall and the Herscher Museum. People can bring their anitques, or pictures of larger items such as furniture, for a professional appraisal. The fee is $10 for appraisals of up to three (3) items. No coins, gemstones or autographs. Proceeds will benefit the Herscher Area Historical Society Museum.

Gayle has worked as an auctioneer and appraiser in the Kankakee area for 27 years, specializing in antiques and collectibles. She also teaches a course at Kankakee Community College called "Trash and Treasures: What's Hot and What's Not in Collectibles."
